Christmas Eve Worship Schedule
Fill A Stocking 2018
Fill A Stocking
November 26 begins TPC’s annual Fill A Stocking program. Each year the TPC family works with the Presbyterian Night Shelter Veterans Program to bring some Christmas joy to their Veteran guests by providing stockings filled with goodies. This year we are continuing this tradition with a bit of a twist. We will be stuffing bags instead of stockings. It is our hope that these bags will better contain the gifts as well as provide a reusable bag for the recipient.
More about the Presbyterian Night Shelter Veterans Program…
There are 88 veterans staying at the shelter. There are three stages that Vets at the shelter work through.
- Stage One: Any veteran that comes in asking for help is immediately given a bed in the main floor, in a separated area with other veterans apart from the rest of the shelter.
- Stage Two: From there, they work their way to the upstairs level which has more individual rooms, etc.
- Stage Three: The goal is for them to work their way to the Patriot House across the street, where they work on getting back out into the world on their own.
The entire Veterans program has 88 Veterans, and this year Trinity has the opportunity to provide stockings for all 88 of these soldiers (86 are men and 2 are women this year).
This is a fantastic opportunity to both thank them for their service and spread some much needed Christmas Joy. We’ve been asked to provide bags filled with small “treasures” (see below for suggestions). These are personal items that are needed in their day-to-day lives and items that are simply fun! The coordinator suggested the Dollar Tree at a great resource for a lot of these items. Please try to limit the size and quantities of your gifts to fit into the bag as the guests have limited space to store their gifts.
Please pick up your bag(s) in the church lobby, fill it with goodies, and return to the church on or before December 17.
Some suggested items for the bags are:
Playing cards Hats/Gloves Shaving Cream Deodorant Disposable Razors (always in short supply) |
Shampoo Body Wash Toothbrush/Toothpaste Candy Sudoku Books Crossword Puzzles |
Or, anything that’s simply fun! Be creative!
Congregational Meeting – December 3
We ask that all TPC members join us for a Congregational Meeting on Sunday December 3rd at 10:00 a.m. This meeting will be held between our normal Worship services.
The purpose of this meeting is
- Vote on proposed amendments to the Bylaws of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Southlake
- Election of the newest class of Elders and Deacons for the Class of 2021
Paper copies of the proposed changes to the Bylaws are available in the church office or can be downloaded (PDF format) here.
Now Collecting Thanksgiving Meals
Meals will be collected November 5th and November 12th
$10 Gift Cards are also needed for turkeys and hams.
Please bring your meal in a reusable tote.
Drop off in the lobby at Trinity.

Does this Thanksgiving Shopping List look a little funny?
Many of the kids served by the Thanksgiving meal program eat free and reduced lunches at their schools. With school being out for the whole week, these kids often go hungry. This list includes extra food to feed the kids during the week, in addition to food for a nice Thanksgiving dinner
New Schedule Starting September 10th!!
Dearest Church,
As we kick off a new school year, we wanted to tell you about some exciting changes we’re making to help us all grow as disciples who make a difference. Starting on Sunday, September 10th, we’re going to be modifying what our Sunday mornings look like!
The New Schedule is:
9:00 Worship (Traditional Choir Led Worship)
With Young Children going to Children’s Church
10:15 Sunday School (For ALL Ages)
11:15 Worship (Contemporary Band Led Worship)
With Young Children going to Children’s Church
We know that this new schedule will be an adjustment for everybody, but we also think that this will help us grow as disciples.
This new schedule gives us an opportunity to model our faith and worship for our children (and others) as we strive to grow deeper, together. We learn how to worship by worshipping and by watching others worship. This new schedule innately provides more ways for us to do this.
This new schedule also puts a much stronger emphasis on learning through Sunday School classes. With a dedicated Sunday School hour, we can all be studying our faith together (both through learning and through teaching).
This new schedule will also help our fellowship together as we can participate in the Sunday School hour together. We may even be able to use this middle hour for other activities to help us grow deeper as a church.
If you have any ideas or concerns, please let us know. If you haven’t had an opportunity to sign up to teach, please let us know. If you are wondering about other options for growing deeper in our faith, please let us know!
I’m excited about this fall! I’m excited about how we can grow deeper as a church. I’m excited for what God has in store for us!
Sincerely, Your Pastor
Rev. Tim Galligan
Summer Nights @Trinity – Life Checkup: A Healthier Family
Tonight (June 28th) from 6-8pm: A Healthier Family – How can we be better children, parents, grandparents?
Summer Nights at Trinity – “Life Check Up”
It’s so easy to unintentionally neglect different aspects of our lives, only to find that they have become weak and brittle. We ignore this part of our lives and over-focus on that part, and we end up unbalanced and unhealthy. And so this summer, we want to do a brief but vital ‘Life Checkup’ to make sure all the different aspects of our lives are growing in a healthy manner: to help any areas that are hurting, to strengthen any areas that are weak, and to encourage any areas that are doing well but could be doing better.
To that end, we’ll be gathering together throughout the month of June on Wednesday nights to talk through 4 different areas. Our hope is that we all will be able to share in our collective wisdom and experience as we all try and grow deeper in our lives and faith, and as we learn about what Jesus has to say about these important topics.
- June 7th: A Healthier Life – How are we doing physically, mentally, spiritually, communally, etc.?
- June 14th: A Healthier Marriage – How is your most important (earthly) relationship doing?
- June 21st: A Healthier Financial Outlook – How are you stewarding God’s blessings in your life?
- June 28th: A Healthier Family – How can we be better children, parents, grandparents?
Wednesdays in June from 6-8pm in the Trinity Adult Classroom
