Michelle Acker – Director of Communications
Born just outside Detroit, transplanted to California at age 12, and college educated in Oklahoma, Michelle graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. While in Oklahoma, she met her husband Joe, and five years later they were married and settled in Norman. Michelle began her teaching career in Oklahoma City Public Schools and went on to teach in neighboring Norman Public Schools, teaching for six years before taking a leave of absence to give birth to their first child, Ethan, in 2002.
Upon becoming a mom, Michelle was able to realize her dream to be a stay at home mom, thanks to her husband starting his own business. Michelle gave up her teaching career in the fall of 2002 in favor of taking care of both Ethan and the record keeping for the business while staying at home. In 2006, Michelle and Joe added to the family with the birth of Nicholas, and their family was completed with their energetic dog, Jack.
In 2007, the Ackers moved to Texas, bought a home in Keller, and have loved living, working, and playing here ever since. While staying home “just being mom”, Michelle began to pursue writing and art as both an outlet for her ideas and creativity, and as a way to stay connected with family and other adults. As Michelle’s online writing continued, she connected with a group of women bloggers and writers, eventually becoming part of a team of women who create and host an annual conference to equip and inspire Christian women who blog and write as a form of sharing their faith.
Michelle became a member of Trinity in 2007, and in April of 2012 she joined our staff as Administrative Assistant. In 2015 she changed roles to become our Director of Communications. She has found her position at Trinity to be the perfect job for her, allowing her to work while her boys are in school, while giving her opportunities to be creative, organized, and encouraging. At the church, Michelle oversees a variety of tasks, coordinating events, creating Sunday Worship bulletins, maintaining the website and E-news, organizing and keeping attendance and giving records, answering phones, greeting visitors and much more.
